How Can I help with the Iowa Mini-forest project?
Volunteering for a mini-forest includes planting native trees, mulching to retain moisture, weeding to keep the area healthy, and building structures like birdhouses or compost bins. These efforts help create a thriving, sustainable ecosystem and support the growth of a vibrant green space for the community.
Why should I volunteer?
Our Brookview Mini Forest project would not have been possible without the combined help of our community. The Iowa Mini Forest project united 500 Brookview Elementary students for planting and mulching, Waukee APEX for logos, recruitment, signs, and donations, and ISU Forestry for research and lesson plans. As we continue to progress with the Brookview Mini Forest, we hope to see more volunteers join our Mini Forest Family!
